AGROFEST 2010 “Green Today...Sustain Tomorrow”

Agrofest 2010  has as its main focus the education of the Barbadian Public to the environmental issues facing us as a nation and concomitantly the measures which need to be embraced and implemented to address the environmental issues. The event would actively demonstrate how agricultural activities can enhance environmental health and societal well being through more careful management of our critical resource factor; LAND.

Agrofest 2010 through its large, diverse and captive audience will be an excellent platform for reaching every Barbadian household and as a result is a unique forum for taking new “Green” ideas and indeed giving timely reminders to all strata of our society. The exhibition will highlight in real terms how the issues of food security and sustainability affect us and point to solutions of how these issues can be successfully addressed through the use of “green” technologies. Building on the efforts of Agrofest 2009, this year’s show will highlight aspects of farming that enhance the environment and indeed the enhanced technologies which allow us to derive significant benefits as a nation state.

Agrofest 2010 will again seek to involve the primary, secondary and tertiary schools in programmes which will reflect the theme of the exhibition in an effort to ensure that the youth are fully engaged in the process. Agrofest 2010 will build on the level of participation in the kitchen garden competition while developing a consciousness to environmental issues at the school level.
