Housing Requirements

Layers:
Floor Space: between 1 and 35 days of age today’s replacement pullet chicks require 0.50 sq ft per bird.  Between 5 and 17 weeks of age, floor space needs to be increased to 1 sq ft per bird.  

Broilers:
Floor Space: broiler chicks require 0.6 sq ft per chick for the first week of age.  At 7 to 10 days of age the floor area should be increased to 0.75 sq ft per bird.   By 21 days of age the broiler chicks should be given the full run of the poultry house, i.e. 1 sq ft per bird.
